SYNOPSIS

Chase Finn is being hunted, and if he ever stops running he’s going to end up dead.

It doesn’t matter that he’s only seventeen. It doesn’t matter that just a few weeks ago he was a normal teenager. All that matters is that he is a threat, and the Agents tracking him will stop at nothing to see him neutralised.

With the line between friends and enemies blurring, Chase discovers he is just a pawn in the middle of a war that’s lasted for centuries, but he isn’t going to let himself be used any longer.

Soon both sides of the war are going to learn that the most important thing about Chase Finn isn’t that he’s a werewolf, it’s that he’ll sacrifice everything, even his own freedom, for the people he loves.

AUTHOR INTERVIEW

1. How did you come up with the idea for Chasing Freedom?

I’ve always been a little obsessed with werewolves, even more so after falling a little in love with Remus Lupin in the Harry Potter books, so I think it was inevitable that eventually I would write a werewolf book.

The characters actually came about through long, late night conversations with one of my close friends back when we were at university, but it wasn’t until a year or so later that I started writing the book.

I really just wanted to write a werewolf book that was less about becoming a werewolf, or a vampire, or any other type of supernatural, and more about the person it happens to and what choices they’ll make when their whole world gets flipped upside down.

2. Can you tell us some things about your main character, Chase, so we can get to know him a little bit?

Chase was captain of his school rugby team, a straight A student, and popular with the girls, but also a bit of an idiot before his life changes. He grows up a lot in the book. He loves Dr Who and Harry Potter. The one thing he really wants from his old life is his iPod.  He’s brave. A little bit arrogant. Doesn’t always think before he speaks.  But he’s a loyal friend, and he will do anything for the people he cares about.

3. Does Chase have a love interest, and if so, what kind of romance can we expect to read in Chasing Freedom?

Hmmm, now I don’t want to give too much away here…but yes, Chase does have a love interest. The romance is sweet, slow, and, I hope, honest. No insta-love here – just slowing falling for someone who completely gets you.

4. What has been the most rewarding aspect of writing/publishing for you so far?

The best moments for me are when people contact me to let me know how much they love what I write. The fact that something I’ve created gives someone else pleasure is the best feeling in the world.

5. While I was checking out your blog in preparation for this interview, I noticed you enjoy traveling. Where are some of your favorite places to visit?

Oh wow, that’s actually a really tough one. I’ve lived in a lot of cool places, Kuwait, Abu Dhabi, the Cayman Islands, amongst others and they all have great aspects, but if I’m honest I will always love getting to take trips home to London. It really is a great city, so much history and culture. The Welsh countryside also holds a special place in my heart, it’s just very peaceful and beautiful. Cuba was also somewhere that really fascinated me for its history and natural beauty.

6. Where have you never been, but would love to travel to someday?

Again, another tough question. I have so many places on my bucket list. I would love to visit New York one day, and New Zealand is top of my list too. But I am also a bit of a sci-fi geek and I’m always hopeful that one day someone will build a hotel on the moon!

7. What is one of the first books you remember falling in love with?

Ah, a much easier question. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I absolutely adored the Chronicles of Narnia when I was a kid. Just the magic and the adventure of it. What kid doesn’t want to step through a wardrobe into a magical land?!

8. Do you re-read books, and if so, what book have you re-read the most?

All the time. I always find that each time you read a book you see another layer to it. As for which one I’ve read most, I’ve not kept an exact count so it would either be The Lord of the Rings or the first Harry Potter book. I’ve read both more times than I can count!

9. Without giving any spoilers, of course, what can you share with us about Chasing Freedom that the synopsis does not cover?

Hmmm, let’s see. That this book is about friendship more than love, bravery more than power, and that sometimes you might not want to be the hero, but you’re the only one who can step up and make a difference. Not giving away spoilers is hard!

10. I like to do a small game at the end of an interview, just for fun. I will start the sentence and you finish it however you want!

(A) The last movie that made me laugh out loud was…The Lego Movie. Silly kids film but definitely made me giggle.

(B) The best place to read is…on the beach by my house with the sand between my toes.

(C) People would be surprised if they knew I…can’t spell. I honestly have the worst spelling in the world. Thank god for Spell Check!

(D) The handsomest man in the entire world is…my lovely boyfriend. At least to me anyway!

(E) The world would be a better place if…everyone read more. Honestly, reading opens your mind, and I believe there would be a lot less bigotry, ignorance and hatred in the world if people opened their minds a little more.
