Synopsis:

What would you do if your summer was hijacked because your parents wanted to study freaking bugs? Well, that’s what happened to me. I thought the summer after high school graduation would be a time to have fun, plan for college, and avoid the parents. I did avoid the parents, just not the way I wanted to.

So instead of going for the summer to Colorado with Mom and Dad, I went with my only other option…my crazy aunt who I haven’t seen in years. Who just so happens to be a make-up artist in England now. Score, right? Not. A week into my vacay my aunt gets a call and away we go on some stupid tour her clumsy friend bailed on. Little did I know that the band we were working for just happened to be the biggest boy band in the world. And one of them just had to make me break my rules…

Maybe I should have gone with the crickets.

This book is clean YA romance and is for ages 14 and up.

Interview

1.What inspired you to write Jump Start my Heart?

A while back I was reading a Goodreads post about One Direction, and I saw how passionate the fans are and how there really isn’t any boy band romance in YA for them. So I decided to fix the problem lol.

2. When did you know that you wanted to be an author?

I knew I wanted to be an author after I read The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices series by Cassandra Clare. The way she can weave a story and make you feel like you’re there, apart of that world, made me want to do the same.

3 What is your favorite thing about writing?

My favorite thing about writing is getting into a character’s head. For a few hours, I’m another person with different thoughts and traits, bleeding my heart out on a keyboard. It’s super therapeutic and it saves me shrink bills Winking smile

 4. What is your least favorite thing about writing?

Hands down, I hate the technology aspect of writing. I hate when some type of technical problem pops up and it halts my progress for hours to days. Once, my computer deleted Jump Start My Heart and I had a panic attack until my dad and sister somehow restored it. THAT is why I despise technology in the writing process.

5. When reading, what are the character traits you always look for in a leading man?

I love a guy with wit. If he’s funny and sarcastic, that’s all it takes for me to like him. But a bad boy image never fails to please me either!

6. Are there any movies, TV shows, or books that you are currently obsessed with?

The Vampire Diaries and The Originals are my poison for tv. God help me and my love for Ian Somerhalder. I’m also super obsessed with The Infernal Devices trilogy because I’d love to live in 1778 London.

7. What is one thing that always makes you smile?

My little dog Chloe never fails to put a smile on my face.

8. What was the last really great gift you got, and what was the last really gift you gave?

I got an iPad for Christmas a few years ago, and without it, I wouldn’t have become a book fanatic or an author. And recently for Mother’s day my sister and I got my mom an iPod. She actually cried and it made me feel like I gave her a kidney instead lol.

9. Without giving any spoilers, can you tell us anything about Jump Start my Heart that the synopsis doesn’t cover?

There’s a side romance in the book with two of the secondary characters. It’s a really comical relationship that I’m pretty sure anybody can relate to. It was also one of my favorite parts to write.

10. I like to play a short word association game at the end of an interview. I’ll start the sentence, and you finish it!

(A) My celebrity crush is…The band 5 Seconds of Summer from Australia. I crush all four of them equally lol.

(B) My current book boyfriend is… Either Daemon Black from Obsidian, or Will Herondale from Infernal Devices. I can’t choose!

(C) People would be surprised if they knew I could…Cook desserts like a boss.

(D) I have always wanted to travel to…Since writing JSMH, I’ve wanted to visit each country I’ve had the boys of Separate Ways hail from.

(E) The world would be a better place if…The world would be a better place if we all respected each other’s opinions and tried to find the good in everybody.
